I really enjoyed walking around the Corvallis campus at Oregon State University with Noah for this portrait session. As we explored different locations, Noah and I talked about his love for television shows like Game of Thrones, which helped bring a relaxed, conversational energy to the shoot.
Noah brought a variety of outfits, giving us the opportunity to create several distinct looks throughout the session. We also used natural light in different ways, moving between softer, more atmospheric settings and areas with stronger contrast.
One of my favorite locations from the shoot was the Memorial Union steps. The photos from that part of the session have a beautiful sense of depth and contrast, with a polished, filmic quality that carries through the entire gallery.
Throughout the shoot, I focused on creating images with rich color, soft bokeh, and a shallow depth of field. Each image was individually color-corrected by hand, allowing every photo to develop its own personality and mood.
That is one of the things I love most about portrait photography: even within a single session, each image can feel like its own small story.
